Madison-to-Chicago Relay a Great Success for TEAM RACC
Team RACC whomped the Madison-to-Chicago 200-Mile Relay on June 6th & 7th with an eight-member team of champs: an oncology physician, two oncology nurses, a school teacher, a sales rep, a business owner, and two 2008 high-school graduates.
Team RACC finished this grueling event which began at 9:00am in the morning in Madison, WI, and ended more than a day later at Montrose Harbor in Chicago, IL in 26:45:50 hours.
This time placed Team RACC 3rd in their division and 13th of 107 teams overall. Awesome job, team!
Event highlights include...
- The Team Meeting held to figure out how to fit the multiple changes of clothes, 27 pairs of running shoes, headlamps, cell phones, bananas, coolers of water and Gatorade, food, snacks, and course directions into each vehicle
- The eye contact made and being chased on the trail by a "fuzzy creature" that "bites trees"... and successfully out-running it!
- The 1:10 tornado warning delay that put Team RACC about 35 minutes behind the projected time
- The flat tire at the Waukesha Hwy. TT transition area. Changed in a 10 minute record time!
- The cheering section with signs and all at Carroll College
- Running around the historic Milwaukee Mile
- Entering transition with arms waving and smiles all around like the race
has already been won
- The rain, heat, and humidity taking its toll
- Eating at Denny's. Not the best place for runner's food...
- Getting to the transition area with food. Thanks for all the support to the team from our fans!
- Meeting at Montrose Harbor, and celebrating with our RACC team members!
It was a blast! Team RACC plans to participate in this event again next year, and welcomes any other teams to Run for RACC in this fun and challenging event.
